Jamie Lynn Spears opens up about Britney Spears: ‘I love and support Britney’ she has stated

Jamie Lynn Spears has broken her silence and spoken out about what has caused her strained relationship with her older sister, pop star Britney Spears.

The younger Spears said there is a misconception about her role in Britney Spears’ 13-year guardianship, which ended last year after a judge removed the couple’s father, Jamie Spears, from overseeing her finances and medical decisions.

Since June – when Britney, 40, first spoke out in court against her long-held conservatorship, which was terminated by a judge in November after 13 years – fans of the superstar have attacked Lynn online, accusing her of not supporting Britney during the conservatorship; she’s even gotten death threats.

“When (the conservatorship) was put into place, I was (a) 17-year-old, I was about to have a baby,” Lynn Spears, 30, told Juju Chang on ABC’s. “Good Morning America.” “I didn’t understand what was happening nor was I focused on that. … I understand just as little about it then as I do now. I’ve only ever tried to be helpful, so any notion that says the contrary is just completely ridiculous”.

The breakup between Britney and her sister Jamie Lynn Spears

Jamie helped Britney explore options for getting out of guardianship, added the actress and singer who rose to fame on Nickelodeon’s hit show, “Zoey 101,” and is now promoting her new book, “Things I Should Have Said.”

“When she needed help, I set up ways to do so, went out of my way to make sure that she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorship and just end this all for our family. If it’s going to cause this much discord, why continue it?”, she said.

Last week, Britney unfollowed Jamie Lynn on Instagram (Jamie Lynn still follows her sister.)

Although she tried for years to keep up appearances, Jamie Lynn admitted that “no family is perfect.”

“That love is still there 100%, I love my sister,” the younger Spears said Wednesday. “I’ve only ever loved and supported her and done what’s right by her. And she knows that. So, I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

In 2008, Britney was placed under a conservatorship following a public breakup. Her father Jamie and others made all of her personal and financial decisions until its termination last November.
